Condolence From: Brian Rogers

Condolence:
Well it was quite an adventure. It all started when we were in either grade seven or eight.

Bill's father W.H had purchased the marsh on the west side of the Pitt River.
The road was paved as far as Boundary. From there to the Wild Duck Inn ,were the present Pitt River bridge now stands, was a rough gravel road. The boat "the Widgeon" carried us some six miles up River to the lodge. I don't think Bessie was ever amused !

We were taught how to handle a gun, hunt, fish,cook, and always look after our game. The Marsh became our home.

As our horizons grew, we fished the rivers and lakes of the lower mainland, always returning to Triangle, Harries Hole, Mountain and the Glue Factory for our ducks in the fall.

We shook our tackle boxes at many high altitude lakes in the caribou and chilcotin only to find Doc. Sprately was our best friend.

The Charlottes, Campbell River, and Kyuquot became our salmon destinations.

The prairies called for further adventures. Brooks, Taber, Camrose and the Milk River Ridge in Alberta. While in Saskatchewan Quill Lake, Kindersley, Colville and Lancer(were I am now ) showed us the true splendour of the fall migration.

Bill you told me in August you would not be around in October. I said for Gods sake don't bail out when I am on the prairies as I won't come home. His response was ,if I did he would be rather upset ...or words to that effect!

It was quite an adventure that spanned over fifty years. You and your father moulded my life into what I am today.the love of all that Western Canada afforded us will never be forgotten.
