Condolences

Condolence From: Cherilyn Drew
Condolence: Walter was a kind, fun-loving, generous man who loved his family. His generosity extended to the friends of his children, of which I was lucky enough to belong. I grew up on a small farm in the Shuswap, near where the Lee family cabin is located. Trish had a sense of adventure and wanted to go horseback riding and that was how we met at the age of 10 and 11 years. Walt and Rita were convinced by Trish and my family to allow her to spend several summers at our farm in her youth. I think it must have been a leap of faith on their part! Walt LOVED it when my mother would give him a jar of fresh, thick cream for his porridge. I have only rarely witnessed a look of pure pleasure like that which was evidenced by the grin on his face when he held a jar of cream. With Walt, Rita and Trish I experienced many 'firsts' in my young life. First time in a motor boat, first time water skiing, first 'Shirley Temple', first hamburger at MacDonalds, first trip to Vancouver. Walt was a loving father who acted as 'best man' at Bruce and Linda's wedding, and felt that he and Rita had won the lottery when they adopted the baby girl who was 'crying the loudest and had the dirtiest diaper' as he often loved to say. I will remember him fondly. Rest in Peace.
