LEE, Walter Bruce
January 9, 1927 - December 9, 2016
After five years with Alzheimer's, Walt passed away to join his wife Rita (Longworth) who passed away in June, 2014, and son Bruce who passed away in October, 1990. Walt is survived by his daughter, Patricia Hunt (Colin), his only two grandchildren, Trevor and Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Linda Davis. Walt loved his family. His grandsons were a special source of joy.
Walt began his working life as a salesman for Johnson and Johnson. In 1962 he made the move to insurance, establishing Vancouver General Insurance in Edgemont Village. Walt’s retirement in 1991 allowed him to spend more time with Rita boating. He was active in the Burrard Yacht Club for years, serving on the Board of Directors, was a Commodore and received an Honorary lifetime membership for his service.
A very special thank you to the caregivers who provided amazing care to both Rita and Walt over the years. Teresita, Carmen, Jackie & Manny who were kind, patient and were instrumental in helping Trish to keep her parents in their own home.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony's Church, 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 commencing at 2 pm. There will be a private family burial at Capilano View Cemetery following the service. A Celebration of Walt's life will be held at Burrard Yacht Club, 10 Gostick Place, North Vancouver from 4 pm until 6:30 pm.
